The Stanley London Forestry Clinometer Compass is a solid brass and copper reproduction of a medium-sized handheld Forestry Ranger's compass. The compass can determine both the magnetic heading of an object, as well as its angle of elevation or declination. An azimuth heading can be determined using the front button sight and the sighting hole and scribed line in the mirror. When the compass is placed on its side and the mirror is placed in the 45 degree position, the angle of the pendulous arm can be read while simultaneously viewing the object. The compass has a needle lift mechanism to protect the compass jewel when transporting. Moving the needle lift lever activates the needle lift mechanism to lock the needle. The compass measures 2 3/4 inches (7.0 cm) in diameter, 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick, and weighs 12.5 ounces (354 grams). The Forestry Compass is beautifully polished to a high luster and comes complete with a 100% leather case. A 3 7/8" Hardwood Storage and Display Case with Hand Inlaid Compass Rose is available for this compass.
